USE OF IP ADDRESSES:
An IP address is a number that is automatically
assigned to your computer whenever you log onto
the Web. Web servers -- the big computers that
"serve up" Web pages -- automatically identify
your computer by its IP address.
York Region CISM Team collects IP addresses for
the purposes of system administration, to report
aggregate information to our advertisers, and to
audit the use of our site. When site visitors
request pages from the Web site, our servers log
the visitor's IP addresses. We do not normally
link IP addresses to anything personally
identifiable, which means that a user's session
will be logged, but the user remains anonymous
to us. We can and will use IP addresses to
identify a user when we feel it is necessary to
enforce compliance with our or Terms of Use or
to protect our service, site, customers, or
others.
Please review each service prior to use and only
use those that disclose information you are
comfortable with sharing.
USE OF COOKIES:
When you visit www.yorkcism.ca, you can surf the
site anonymously and access important
information without revealing your identity. In
order to improve our site visitors' experience,
we use "cookies" to track your visit. A cookie
is small amount of data that is transferred to
your browser by a Web server and can only be
read by the server that gave it to you. It
functions as your identification card, recording
your preferences. It cannot be executed as code
or deliver viruses.
Most browsers are initially set to accept
cookies. You can set your browser to notify you
when you receive a cookie, giving you the chance
to decide whether or not to accept it. (For some
Web pages that require an authorization, cookies
are not optional. Users choosing not to accept
cookies will probably not be able to access
those pages.)

track your visit to www.yorkcism.ca, and our Web
servers automatically log the IP/Internet
address of your computer, this information does
not identify you personally and you remain
anonymous unless you have otherwise provided
York Region CISM Team with personal information.
